Headstart Puppy Training by Tiffany

Headstart training is a great benefit to owners who do not have the time or knowledge to raise a Field Trial, Hunt Test, or hunting retriever. The best dogs often have begun their training with dummies and real birds as soon as they are weaned. By making retrieving an exciting experience early on, your dog will have a love of retrieving all their life.

This is Tiffany's favorite part of what we do; the puppies are played with, trained, socialized, and are given the foundation be a great family and retrieving companion. Headstart training is for dogs under 5 months old, and includes:
  • Crate training
  • Basic people and house manners
  • Single and double retrieves
  • Introduction to gunfire
  • Marks thrown by gunners in the field
  • Retrieves with both bumpers and birds
  • Introduction to water (weather permitting)
  • A positive experience being taught to learn

SkyHigh Retrievers travels to sunny California during the winter months, January - April. This gives your puppy the unique opportunity to be worked on water no matter what time of year it is. This is a great program for a young duck dog ready to go into training, or for a competition puppy to begin water work. We limit the number of dogs for the winter trip, so it is best to make reservations. If you would like your dog to continue their training this winter, please Contact Us.
